Structural Engineering

Over 200+ projects designed, installed and approved by building control and warranty providers.

£2m Professional Indemnity Insurance.

Overview

All our structural engineering is done in house by our dedicated engineering team. We are members of IStructE: The Institution of Structural Engineers

Experience – Residential and Commercial from Wall Removals to Multi Story Car Parks

Specialism – Geotechnical Engineering with a keen eye of value engineering projects

Benefits of using USP Engineering for your projects reduction in foundation build cost by:

  1. Reduce over-all concrete on site.

  2. Reduce reinforcement used in foundations.

  3. Reduce steel member sizes.

  4. Reduce excavation on site.

  5. Optimize pile loads

Statement

We can review the foundation and possibly redesign, using our 3D modelling software to keep costs of materials down and allow us to get individual pile loads to keep piling depth to a minimum and keep your all costs low. Allow us to help you save money.

If you have architectural plans, we can also design the complete building, the benefits of this would be we would provide a unique optimised loading plan which we would apply to the foundation elements to provide a highly economical and optimised foundation design, again keeping your costs down.

Examples of value engineering

On every project we as an engineering company will always do our very best to value engineer any project that we have involvement with. We will take a clients initial project design and once we have reviewed the building construction method and ground conditions (by way of a Soil Investigation or data we have on record for that chosen area), we will assess what we believe is the most efficient foundation solution available to our client. We will always offer alternative solutions using screw piles and various additional foundation methods such as RC Raft, Steel Ringbeam, RC Ringbeam etc and be transparent with our clients on the most efficient solution for them both in time on site, material cost and labour costs.

From this way of working over the last 3 years we have had excellent working relationships with our clients. A few examples below show how we have value engineered these projects with our clients to save them time and money with their foundation solutions.

Project 1:

'Wintershill, Durley, Hampshire' - the original engineers design was for 300kN point loads and a 300mm thick RC slab; we reduced this to 150kN point loads and a 250mm slab

Once our Engineer had revised the foundation plan we were able to completely overhaul it, we saved the client over £10,000 on their original foundation design

  • 1315kN from 3900kN – 66% reduction.

  • 250mm slab from 300mm

  • Significant saving in reinforcement as well.

Below are examples of our 3D modelling software analysis of the project. Using this software, we are able to place the load points of the super structure and position our piles that best suit the Safe Working loads (SWL) to model a more efficient piled solution for the client.
