At USP, we have introduced a new addition to our foundation range: Mini Screw Piles.
These are not ground screws. They are a smaller version of our proven, engineered screw piles — designed to offer greater performance, strength, and versatility on smaller-scale projects.
As part of our continued investment into better solutions, we have taken our standard 76mm diameter, 6mm thick walled, 2-metre screw pile sections, and developed a scaled-down version. The result is a 50mm diameter tube with a 5mm wall thickness, manufactured with the same attention to strength and structural reliability.
These are currently the only Mini Screw Piles of this type available in the UK, setting a new benchmark for lighter foundation systems without sacrificing quality or load-bearing capacity.
Ground screws have become a popular option in the garden building and leisure markets because they offer fast and simple installation. However, they are limited when it comes to structural strength, durability, and load capacity.
Recognising this gap, we developed our Mini Screw Piles to provide a genuine alternative — a product that combines the easy installation benefits associated with ground screws, but with far superior engineering integrity.
Mini Screw Piles allow designers, contractors, and homeowners to complete lighter structures without compromising foundation performance.
Fewer piles are needed to achieve the same or better results compared to standard ground screws, which reduces material and labour costs, while improving the structural resilience of the finished base.
Despite their smaller size, our Mini Screw Piles are capable of supporting unfactored loads up to 44kN per pile, provided ground conditions are suitable and full geotechnical checks are completed ahead of installation.
This loading capacity is achieved using a configuration of a starter pile combined with three single-helix extension sections, allowing installation to depths of up to 4.8 metres where required.
Mini Screw Piles and ground screws both offer fast, low-impact alternatives to traditional concrete foundations. The key difference lies in their design and intended use. While ground screws are well-suited to lightweight, temporary, or non-structural applications, Mini Screw Piles are engineered for higher loads and permanent installations.

Mini screw piles aren’t just compact — they’re also highly versatile. In many cases, they can be installed entirely by hand using handheld equipment, with no need for large machinery.
This makes them ideal for:
Tight or restricted access areas
Urban or landscaped environments
Low-impact or remote installations
Our 50HTs (50mm Helical Tubes) are a perfect example — lightweight and engineered for stability, they’re designed to be driven in manually with the right torque gear, offering a fast and efficient solution where machinery isn’t practical.
Whether you’re working on decking, small structures, or temporary foundations, hand-held installation offers a cost-effective and mess-free option.
Mini Screw Piles are a flexible foundation solution that can be used across a wide range of sectors.Designed for strength and durability, they are ideal for both small-scale projects and lighter industrial applications where access, ground conditions, or environmental sensitivity are important factors.
Mini Screw Piles provide solid, long-lasting support for home extensions, conservatories, and outbuildings, without the need for traditional concrete foundations.
Perfect for renewable energy projects, Mini Screw Piles can quickly support ground-mounted solar systems, lightweight steel structures, and similar installations.
When building near protected trees, Mini Screw Piles minimise root disturbance and comply with ecological and arboricultural requirements, making them ideal for sensitive sites.
From timber studios to modular holiday cabins, Mini Screw Piles offer a stable base with fast installation and minimal ground impact — even on sites with limited access.
By combining the right product with the right expertise, we help ensure that every foundation we install is built for lasting performance — whether using our full-size piles, Mini Screw Piles, or a combination of both.
If you’re planning a project where access, ground conditions, or structural requirements make foundations a challenge, USP’s Mini Screw Piles provide a smarter, stronger, and more flexible solution.
Nilesh Kalyan2024-10-16 I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere appreciation for the excellent service provided by Ultimate Screw Piling on our recent project. The rapid turnaround and professionalism shown throughout the process were truly impressive and made a significant difference in meeting our deadlines. A special thanks to Stuart, Chris and Jason for all their help and dedication. Their expertise and willingness to go the extra mile were greatly appreciated, and it was a pleasure working with such a committed and reliable team. John Paleomylites2024-10-14 We engaged USP to work with our structural engineer to design and implement a screw-piling solution for a large RC slab. USP have been excellent from start to finish and delivered ahead of time and precisely on budget. A fantastic company and genuinely decent people to work with. Andrew Mudge2024-02-20 Great team of guys Dan Booth2024-01-26 USP were recommended to me by our neighbours who had used them for a recent extension. From the outset I was hugely impressed with the USP team and their way of working. They guided me through the requirements for the foundations of my extension build including the most cost-effective way to do this. One of the attractions to USP is that they offer both design and install solution, keeping things simple and taking the stress out of this part of any extension build. During the installation itself the on-site team were very professional including respectful of our neighbours (parking, noise etc.) which put our neighbours at ease. Finally, the management team I spoke with, Bhavin and Tim, have provided fantastic customer service, keeping me well informed throughout and helping answer my questions. I will be highly recommending USP to others for their extension builds. Thank you USP team. Dan Neil Reeves2023-09-11 USP were recommended by our structural engineer who had interacted with them on a previous job. We were looking for a company that could undertake a screwpile solution for a new build and extension. From initial contact, quotation through to completion of works they were a professional team who kept us informed throughout. There were a few challenges along the way (not caused by USP) for which they offered solutions that were both simple to implement and cost effective. Particular thanks to Dan, Jason & Zach. The management team at USP have customer service and a quality outcome at the forefront of their agenda. Tim was always on hand when required or called back in a timely manner. Would not hesitate to use them again. Highly recommended Giles Hartwell2023-09-05 The whole team are great, they know what they are doing and get the job done on time and on budget. Kevin Allinson2023-09-04 From design to installation the USP team did a great job. david venn2023-01-17 I initially found Ultimate Screw Piling online and my first impression of the professional website was soon confirmed after contacting them. Having not required the services of a screw piling company before I was quickly reassured that I was in good hands with a knowledgeable and organised company. All correspondence from start to finish was quick, clear and helpful and every deadline was met and the work completed to a very high standard in the time frame agreed. The site staff were tidy and professional at all times and went the extra millet work around several onsite challenges. It is also important to mention that we had a serious issue with a lack of cement in the concrete supplied by an independent operator, that has no connection to Ultimate Screw Piling, which meant the re-enforced slab had to be fully removed and replaced. It is often how you deal with issues which sets you apart from others and Ultimate put the wheels in motion the same day that the issue was flagged and worked tirelessly to put things back as they should be. It is sadly, increasingly rare with in the construction industry, that individuals and companies do the right thing especially as in this instance where the blame lay solely at someone else's door. I have already recommended Ultimate and will continue to do so, a pleasure to deal with from start to finish I cannot recommend them highly enough. Thank you for an excellent job.
They are ideal for light to medium structural applications, including house extensions, conservatories, and steel frame buildings. For very heavy structures, our full-size piles may be recommended.
They are suitable for a wide range of soils. However, a ground assessment is always required to confirm suitability and correct installation depth.
Installation is typically very quick. Smaller projects can often be completed in a day, depending on the number of piles and site access.
